Opening Remark for the 2nd International Congress on Advanced Materials

Alaa S. Abd-El-Aziz

Chairman of the 2nd International Congress on Advanced Materials

It gives me great pleasure to be here with you today and to welcome you to the 2nd International Congress on Advanced Materials. As co-chair of the 1st International Congress on Advanced Materials, held in May of 2011, it is an honour to participate once again and join my professional colleague Professor Sergey Piletsky in co-chairing this important conference. The aim of the conference is to present current and exciting research findings as well as to exchange ideas with colleagues from around the world and build collaborations.

I would like to thank Jiangsu University for their great organization and hospitality. I would especially like to acknowledge the leadership of the President and Vice-President of this great university. I would also like to thank the organizing committee for their hard work and for putting together a great program. This conference could not have happened without the leadership of Professor Songjun Li. I am also pleased to announce that the University of Prince Edward island and Jiangsu University are working together on many collaborative initiatives.

The interdisciplinary field of Advanced Materials furthers our understanding and the development of improved and revolutionary materials and technologies, and addresses many pressing scientific issues that impact the future of our planet. They are 600 delegates attending the conference, from 40 different countries. The majority of delegates come from China, however, there are many speakers from Europe, North America and other Asian countries. It is a truly international conference that brings many researchers from around the world.

Please enjoy this wonderful networking opportunity to share, with your fellow researchers and scientists from around the world, the insights, ideas, and discoveries resulting from your important work.
