Status for the International Union of Advanced Materials

Article 1 Name:
This union is known as the International Union of Advanced Materials (abbreviated as IUAM).
Article 2 Aims and activities:
IUAM is the international union that provides a forum for the rapidly expanding field of Advanced Materials in all over world.
Organize regular workshops, symposia, seminar, series of lectures and conferences in particular the World Congress of Advanced Materials (WCAM);
Honor outstanding scientists in the field of Advanced Materials with medals in famous scientists’ names.
Article 3 Membership:
All countries and/or regions of materials scientists whose aims are to promote Advanced Materials Science and to further cooperation between materials scientists may become members.
Article 4 Officers, committees, and responsibilities:
The representative officers shall be President office members, Secretariat, Executive Committee members, Academic Committee members, and Advisory Committee members
The President is in charge of all units and the General Assembly.
The Secretariat bureau consists of a Secretary-General and members. With the authorization, the Secretary-General is responsible for running the routine management of the IUAM. The Secretary-General will be also in a position to submit the annual accounts to the assembly and prepares estimates for the budget.
The general assembly is composed of the members of the president, secretary-general, Executive Committee members, Academic Committee members, and Advisory Committee members.
The executive Committee shall consist of:
The President and the Secretary-General
heads of the representative materials science societies of member countries which have hosted at least one WCAM conference (while in office), and
Those persons who shall be elected by the General Assembly at an ordinary meeting (the meeting should be with the attendance of both the president and secretary-general). The Committee conducts and coordinates the activities of IUAM. It is authorised to make urgent decisions between meetings of the General Assembly, which then must be communicated to the General Assembly. It is also is entrusted with the organization of WCAM conferences in collaboration with representatives of the country in question.
Article 5 Meetings:
The ordinary meetings of the General Assembly will take place at the WCAM conferences. Extraordinary meetings can be convened between meetings by the executive Committee.
Article 6 Elections:
A country or a region which is not a member of IUAM may join by applying to the executive Committee, which will decide by a simple majority whether to approve the application.
The new members for Academic Committee and Advisory Committee shall be elected by the Executive Committee during the General Assembly at an ordinary meeting, which shall be held at a WCAM conference, and shall serve for two years.
The finalised membership should get agreements from the president.
Article 7 Modification of the statutes:
The present statutes may be modified by the General Assembly by a two-thirds majority of the members present.
Article 8 Supplementary regulations:
Any question regarding the operation of IUAM which is not covered by the present statutes may be decided by supplementary regulations adopted by the executive committee.
The present statues are effective from the day that the registration is completed.
The present statutes were provided by the WCAM body led by Prof. Songjun Li, the President, following the decisions from the executive Committee meeting held on 16 June 2011. The preparation of the statutes was assisted by Dr. Shunsheng Cao, the Secretary-General.
